Every great guitar band needs a great drummer. One of the greatest of all time was Ginger Baker and this documentary called “Beware of Mr Baker” which is released today in the UK looks to be a fantastic insight into his life and his music.

Ben Harper is helping to raise money for the family of Australian pro skateboarder Lewis Marnell, whose untimely death in January at the age of 30 left his family in dire financial straits. A lifelong skateboarding enthusiast and friend to skaters around the world, Harper has reunited with the Innocent Criminals for the first time since 2007 to re-record the song “Jah Work” from his 1997 album, “The Will to Live.” The song is now available on iTunes, with all proceeds going to the Lewis Marnell family memorial fund.

Stevie Ray Vaughan’s “Number 1” Fender Stratocaster was also known as known as “Stevie’s first wife”. He acquired the guitar in the early 1970’s from Ray Henning’s Heart of Texas music shop. The guitar has a 1962 body with 1959 pickups and originally had a white scratch plate. Taking inspiration from Hendrix he mounted a left handed bridge on the guitar. His guitar tech Rene Martinez replaced the frets with Jumbo frets that yearly had to be repaired due to extreme wear and tear through Stevie’s extensive playing. The guitar was tuned down a semi-tone to E-flat and strung with .013 to .060 which made the guitar harder to play and on occasion would be drawing blood from his fingertips but gave the guitar a superior tone. The guitar was used on all four of his solo studio albums.
